What is a Concrete Slab?

Concrete slab is a shallow, reinforced-concrete structural member that is very wide compared to it’s depth, a slab is, typically between 3”-4” thick, and are most often used to construct floors and ceilings Spanning between beams, girders, or columns, while thinner slabs are also used for exterior paving.

Concrete slabs are built on the building site using form-work - a type of boxing into which the wet

1. Cracks in slab floors usually accur when the foundation that supports the floor is in poor condition.

To correct this, the cracked section will need to be cut out, and new rebar formwork is installed. This will connect the old serction of the slab and the new area that is to be poured

2. After installing the rebar, new concrete is poured into the cut area.

How to Repair a Concrete Slab

  1. Locate the crack in your slab floor
  2. Prepare concrete slab and make outline of cut
  3. Soften and prepare concrete slab for demolition
  4. Saw cut concrete slab
  5. Demolish and remove saw cut cracked concrete area
  6. Clean cut section of concrete slab
  7. Drill and place steel rebar reinforcement in place
  8. Tie all rebar connections and prepare for pouring on concrete
